Two film-obsessed brands deepen their partnership.

Letterboxd and The Ankler Team Up on Newsletter, Events, and Ad Sales

Letterboxd has partnered with Ankler Media, an entertainment-focused media company, and together the two will co-produce editorial content, put on joint events, and share an ad-sales arrangement.

The partnership was announced by Ankler Media CEO Janice Lin at Axios Media Trends Live on September 18, 2025, and reported by Axios.

The collaboration includes a new bi-weekly newsletter called Crowd Pleaser, which will explore audience trends in entertainment by combining The Ankler’s insider reporting with insights from Letterboxd’s community. The newsletter will be published every other Wednesday for both Letterboxd and Ankler subscribers. It is set to launch November 12, with FX’s Alien: Earth as its first sponsor.

In addition to the newsletter, the partnership includes joint events to be scheduled around Crowd Pleaser.

On the ad-sales front, The Ankler’s head of sales will sell part of Letterboxd’s advertising inventory during awards season — including placement in Letterboxd’s Best in Show newsletter — and other co-branded offerings.

This isn’t the first time the two brands have joined forces. They’ve worked together on events in Los Angeles and hosted an invitation-only party at the Toronto International Film Festival.

“Letterboxd exists to connect people with films they’ll love, and to spotlight the conversations and creativity that flow from our community,” Letterboxd CEO and co-founder Matthew Buchanan said. “Partnering with The Ankler lets us bring fresh perspectives on audience trends to both our members and the wider industry, while celebrating how fans shape film culture.”
